TROJAN WOMEN: AN ELEGY
All oppression creates a state of war.
Simone de Beauvoir
An elegy is a song, poem or some kind of composition that is a lamentation for the dead. A eulogy. And yes, a eulogy is filled with sorrow, pain and heartache; it is also a celebration of the life that has passed on. And so, The Trojan Women: An Elegy will be harrowing but it will be joyous, devastating and delightful, revolting and comforting.
Australian director Stefanos Rassios will reimagine Euripides’ classic tale of grief, endurance and survival in collaboration with students from Level 2 Acting in The Trojan Women: An Elegy. Filled with haunting images, The Trojan Woman: An Elegy will redraw the battle lines of war closer to home.
